Bitmain introduces efficient liquid-cooled bitcoin miner

Apr 25, 2022 | Updates

Bitmain has announced the Antminer S19 XP Hyd. The Chinese company claims that the ASIC miner is the most power-efficient model they have ever produced. Shipment of the new miner will start in the first quarter of 2023.

Efficient bitcoin miner

The Antminer S19 XP Hyd. is a new version of the Antminer S19 XP, with the main difference being the liquid cooling technique the new miner has. The rig can get rid of its heat more efficiently by cooling the miner with liquid, leading to higher power efficiency. Air-cooled miners use fans to cool down the rig. The listing on the Bitmain website shows that the new miner produces 255 terahashes per second (TH/s) while consuming about 5,300 watts of electricity. The Antminer S19 XP Hyd. power efficiency is 20.8 joules per terahash (J/T). This makes it more efficient than its air-cooled brother. The (air-cooled) S19 XP has a power efficiency of 21.5 J/T while producing 140 TH/s. The new liquid-cooled miner has a price tag of about $20.000. Shipments will start in the first quarter of next year. The new S19 XP Hyd. is designed to be installed in Bitmain’s mining containers. These are containers that can house more than 200 miners. The containers have high-grade cooling solutions while being extremely mobile. For example, the containers have radiators to which liquid-cooled miners can be connected. Bitmain recently introduced their new ANTSPACE HK3 container that houses enough miners to consume about 1 megawatt of power.

Higher bitcoin profits

The goal of bitcoin miners is to mine BTC as efficiently as possible. The new Antminer S19 XP Hyd. will help miners reach these goals quicker. There are, however, many more bitcoin miners that can mine BTC efficiently. Do you have questions, or are you looking to start your own bitcoin mining business? Don’t hesitate to send us a message. Why Bitcoin uses so much electricity, and why it is necessary

A common critique against the Bitcoin (BTC) network is that it uses too much electricity. There are whole countries that use less than the crypto network. But why is this necessary, and not right away, a bad thing? Let’s look at some points that can be made in favor of Bitcoin’s proof-of-work (PoW) protocol.
