While the crypto market is experiencing wintery conditions, with bitcoin (BTC) trading far below its all-time high, the large BTC miner manufacturers continue developing their ASIC rigs. Recently, Canaan announced its new A13 series. These miners push the boundaries of what mining rigs can do even further.

Canaan’s new A13 miners with improved efficiency

Canaan announced the new miners recently in a press release shared with 123miners. The new models are called the Avalon A1366 and Avalon A1346. Both models offer improvements in computing power and efficiency compared to their predecessors.

The A1346 produces a hash rate of 110 terahashes per second (TH/s) while consuming about 3300 watts of power. These figures give the A1346 a power efficiency score of 30 joules per terahash (J/TH). The other rig announced, the A1366, produces an even higher hash rate of 130 TH/s while consuming about 3259 watts. This gives the ASIC miner an efficiency rating of 25 J/TH. 

Compared to the previous flagship, the Avalon A1266, the efficiency, and hash rate both get a bump. The A1266 generates 100 TH/s at an efficiency of 35 J/TH. Efficiency is one of the key metrics bitcoin miners look at since the more efficient your operation is, the higher the profit margin.

New bitcoin miners are “key milestone”

These new efficient bitcoin miners developed by Canaan are the next step in Canaan’s mission to produce the most efficient mining rigs available. Canaan’s CEO, Nangeng Zhang, said in a statement:

“The launch of our new generation bitcoin mining machines is a key research and development milestone as we take our pursuit of higher computing power, better power efficiency, superior user experience, and optimal cost-effectiveness to a whole new level,”

Canaan is one of the biggest players in the crypto mining scene. Its competitor Bitmain recently launched new miners for the Kadena network, called the Bitmain Antminer KA3, which is now available for preorder on 123miners.com
